CORONAVIRUS - Mendelssohn Scholarship deferred until 2021
In the light of the current situation of the Coronavirus, The Mendelssohn Scholarship Foundation (including The Boise Scholarship Foundation) has regrettably decided to defer the 2020 scholarship award until 2021.
Any composers wishing to apply for the scholarship in 2021 should write to in December 2020 for further information about the application process.
Any composers who have already submitted a postal application to The Royal Academy of Music should be assured that their scores will be in safe keeping, but the RAM is closed until further notice.  When access is allowed, scores and paperwork will be returned by post.

The Mendelssohn Scholarship for composers is usually awarded every other year. The next award will be in 2021. The value of the award varies from year to year.

Music students below the age of 30 on 1st April in the year of the award are eligible.  The award shall be expended by the elected Scholar in furtherance of his/her musical education in Britain or in musical centres abroad.
